French Cognac

the art of cognac craftsmanship

The Société des Produits Marnier-Lapostolle is the world’s 5th largest actor in Cognac.

Staying true to its tradition and its passion for excellence, it still embodies the art of cognac craftsmanship. Resolutely refusing any compromise and seeking quality at all times, the company has developed an identity of its own. Our cognacs originate only from the first five selected areas and are bought from small vineyards owners, some of whom have been dealing with us for generations. A relationship based on trust has developed and we are thus able to follow closely all the steps associated with the making of cognac, from the actual growing of the vine to the last distillation.

A complex and perfectly balanced cognac

the Ugni Blanc

A unique variety of grape, the Ugni Blanc produces a wine rich in acidity and low in alcohol content which is ideal for distillation.
The two consecutive distillations in a traditional copper still are carried out over a strictly defined period in the year (from mid-October through end of March). The first, slightly cloudy distillate obtained is returned to the boiler for a second heating.
The eau-de-vie is then placed in oak casks to age. The eaux-de-vie are placed to rest in the wine cellars of the Château de Bourg before being blended.
The Cellar Master realizes the blending, the final stage in the creation of the cognac used for NAVAN. He harmonizes the wide variety of eaux-de-vie at his disposal so as to produce a complex and perfectly balanced cognac, taking into account the future "marriage" with the natural vanilla from Madagascar.
