The art of cocktail

NAVAN Cocktails

The term “Cocktail” is used for all drinks composed of at least 2 ingredients.

Simple rules can be followed to respect the “art of cocktails”:
A cocktail must not include more than 5 ingredients including drops and dashes and more than 1 basis alcohol.
A simple and well-balanced cocktail may be composed of:
- a body (basis alcohol)
- a perfume (liqueur)
- a tie (one or two fruit juices)

Cocktails are divided into families:
After Dinner : General term describing all mixtures composed of a digestive liqueur and a spirit, usually served after a meal.
Pre-Dinner : Aperitif cocktail, usually drier and stronger.
Fancy Drink : Term describing all thirst-quenching and moderately alcoholized mixtures.
Fancy Drinks are generally served in a tumbler filled with ice. They are composed of liqueurs, fruit juices and occasionally a spirit, completed with soda or tonic.
